The entrance to the dead zone

Peter Spicer's Shack is a Dead Zone located in the Flooded jungle and featured in Dead Island: Riptide. It's one of the many dead zones scattered around the game and is a part of the Breri Outpost.

Layout[]

The dead zone is pretty standard for shack dead zones in the Flooded jungle, with a central two story wooden shack in a fenced off area. The shack itself has a walkway around the upper story with two entrance doors for the second floor as well as a double door entrance in the lower floor. The upper floor has a dividing wall which houses a hole in the floor to drop down to the ground floor. There's some Wicker Baskets on both floors as well as minimal furniture such as chairs, tables or shelving units.

Strategy[]

The dead zone is much the same to clear as others of this nature. Upon entering the dead zone, there are Walkers near the entrance as well as a Butcher on the upper walkway at the top of the stairs. Clearing out the Walkers before the Butcher reaches you will make it a lot easier to avoid getting hit, then clearing out the Walkers sleeping on the floor will secure the outside. A Walker and frenzied Infected inhabit the upper floor, and the Infected is tougher than usual due to its frenzied nature. The lower story contains the boss, Peter "The Undying" W. Spicer, who does not respawn after killing him. However, the first time around will have the boss, two more frenzied Infected and some Walkers on the lower floor. Having a Sonic Pulse Grenade on hand is very useful for isolating the boss, as opening the door, throwing the grenade and then retreating, closing the door, will kill everything bar the boss. Alternatively, a Molotov Cocktail can achieve a similar effect. The boss himself is a slow Thug, albeit with a lot of health, but it can easily be dealt with using normal Thug tactics or ranged weapons, such as a Sniper Rifle or even a Flare Gun. If you only have a Mine or two, placing them at the entrance, opening the door and running will bait them into coming out and detonating the mine, which also clears most of them out. When everything is dead, collecting the Rare modification items and looting the Metal chests can be done before leaving.
