Evacuate from the Prison is the tenth and final main quest in the Ryder White's Campaign DLC in Dead Island.

Synopsis[]

After retrieving the antidote from the Heroes, Ryder White rushes to save his wife, Emily.

Walkthough[]

  • After knocking out the heroes in the elevator, Ryder locks Charon in the control room to get the antidote and his wife to the prison rooftop to escape on Super 25 which has been waiting for him all this time. Charon tells him it's too late, that the cure is just a vaccine, only able to work on people in the first stage, which Emily is no longer in. In disbelief and denial about this, Ryder leaves Charon locked up, but he gets a spare keycard he had hidden to unlock himself.
  • You gain control of Ryder in front of the elevator, which you can open to reveal the heroes, Jin and Yerema unconscious on the floor. It's very surreal to see the heroes in a third person view like this after playing as one of them for so long!
  • Loot Logan to find the cure, then go through the door next to the elevator, up the stairs and an immediate left at the top of them, following the corridors to end up at a staircase in the hospital.
  • Don't bother going up the stairs as there's nothing up there and the doors at the top are locked. Instead go through the doors to your right to enter the hospital.
  • There's a group of Walkers next to you, so use a grenade or gun them down. You find a lot of explosives while going through the hospital, so liberally use them while going through.
  • Some Infected will run at you, so kill them and then deal with the Walkers that will also be attracted to the noise.
  • At the junction in the middle go right to where a Thug is waiting with some Walkers. With a well timed grenade throw, you can kill the Walkers, Thug and suicider in one go.
  • Head left to where a HORDE of zombies are waiting in the wing, since the way forwards is blocked. There's no less than 10 Walkers and 5 Infected in here, so use explosives as you can to clear out the large groups, then gun down the rest.
  • At the end of the ward you need to go right and into the corridor again. However, a Ram is waiting in the hallway with 4 Infected. Use a grenade or incendiary grenade to take care of the Ram as you gun down the Infected, then go down the corridor. You can go into the ward on the opposite side however there's nothing much here other than a few Walkers who are lying on beds and a crate with a single grenade and incendiary grenade in it.
  • Instead, go through the double doors in the corridor to proceed. Once you do, another HORDE of Walkers will spawn out of nowhere. Literally out of nowhere, they're not there if you jump to look over the doors!
  • Anyway, use several grenades to clear them out. Close the doors again if you need to stop them getting to you. If they crowd around the door, throw a grenade as you open the door, then close it again. With luck, none of the zombies will get through and will instead get blown up by the grenade. Any that do get through you can kill easily.
  • Once the way is clear, go through the doors and enter either one of the wards on either side of you. It doesn't matter which way you want to go, they all have a ton of Walkers and Infected in them and you need to fight your way through using bullets and explosives!
  • Near the end of whatever ward you go through, Ryder will radio Super 25, telling them to 'warm up their rotors' to prepare to fly. He's getting Emily and he wants them ready to go as soon as he gets to the roof. A Thug will be waiting with some Walkers in the corridor, but kill them and go into the corridor.
  • Go to the end of the corridor and prepare to lob a grenade to you left, as there's once again a load of zombies here. Back up and gun down anything that comes for you, including Infected that will run at you from the right. Once it's all dead, go left to the end of the ward and through to the staircase.
  • Go up, since down will yield nothing. Through the doors at the top there's a Ram with a couple of Walkers. Throw a grenade to try and catch the Ram in the blast. If he manages to run out of it, close the door. As soon as he hits the doors, open them and throw an incendiary grenade/normal grenade at his feet, then close the doors again. The Thug will still be doing its shaking animation after it's finished running so it won't be able to attack you and the explosive will go off, killing it.
  • Banging against the doors at the end, the doors to intensive care where Emily is located, there's 3 Walkers, but gun them down. As you near the junction, however, Walkers and Infected will ambush you, so back away and kill them all, then go through the doors to intensive care. Go up tot Emily's door to play the ending cutscene.
  • White will burst in, cure in hand, talking to Emily excitedly. However, Emily is past caring and has fully transformed to a zombie, likely an Infected from the way she's struggling against the restraints and the fact that she goes to bite him when he leans in to her. Still in denial that his wife is fully gone, Ryder pleads, saying they can make a cure. Checking that the coast is clear, he grabs a hold of the bed and wheels her out, towards the roof. It then shows White on the roof with the stand-off with the heroes. Remembering what Charon has done, White asks if he should kill him first. Then it shows his wife getting loose and White injecting himself with the syringe. It flashes back to Charon when he was talking to Dr. West, how Charon was saying it's a 'supervirus'. In fact, it's no antidote at all. What Charon meant by 'only working on someone in the first stage' is that the SUPERVIRUS only works on someone in the first stage, as it's not a vaccine at all but rather a mutation of the virus that can create super zombies. White turns into said super zombie and it cuts to him dead on the roof. As they all fly away in Super 25, it flashes back once again to West when he was talking about Yerema, that she's a 'walking timebomb' and the source of the plague, as it shows her face and several shots of the chaos across the island. As they fly into the distance, Logan comments that he'll be happy to get all his old problems back, as long as the world's the way it used to be. Charon tells him that it's not an never will be. It ends on Charon smiling as the camera zooms in on Yerema as it fades to black.

Notes[]

  • If you don't open the elevator and take the cure, it is possible to return to the control room if you go up the stairs, through the double doors and return to the upper floor of the control room. Here you will see Charon still standing in front of the control panels and the door is open. Nothing special happens, but it's a good way to get full ammo before starting the quest, if you were running low on certain ammo.
    • This is not possible after collecting the cure, as the doors will lock, preventing you going anywhere but the main path.
  • Much like the normal campaign, it is possible to replay Ryder's campaign from the start, keeping your weapons and inventory.
