An explosive barrel as found in Escape Dead Island. One of many Environmental hazards

Environmental hazards are dangerous objects or other pasive hazards found in Dead Island, Dead Island: Riptide and Escape Dead Island. They pose a thread to both the player, NPCs and zombies alike. Some zombies may be immune to one or more environmental hazards. Drowners for example cannot drown when submerged in water.

Usage[]

Environmental hazards can be used to dispose of enemies by luring them into such hazards. Some hazards must be triggered by the players such as propane tanks, thus requiring proper timing

List of environmental hazards[]

  • Propane Tank: Explodes when shot. Can be thrown arround.
  • Explosive Barrel: Explodes when shot.
  • Drowning: While submerged in water for an extended period, continuous damage starts to be incurred. Zombies in Riptide and the definitive edition of Dead Island are immune to drown damage.

  • Large Fans: Insta-kills anything that touches them, while they are spinning.
  • Fall damage: When falling from large heights, a large ammount of damage will be taken. The amount of damage depends on the distance fallen.
