Dolphiny McDolphinface, later named Dolphin Ludgren by Asher, was a tame dolphin that was supposed to appear in the September 2017 draft of the Dead Island film. The dolphin was located in Dolphin Cove in the Banoi Aquarium, presumably either captured or bought by the aquarium as an attraction. It was then trained to jump through hoops, tail walk and, supposedly, wrestle a fully grown man. When Cassie and Asher reach the cove, the dolphin is very weak and close to death, likely from either lack of food, the water polluting from lack of cleaning or both, though still friendly as it responds to Asher's patting. Asher decides to open its door to the sea and, with Cassie's help, manages it but the dolphin is too weak to move. Asher then dives in and guides the dolphin out into the ocean, where it quickly recovers and regains its original playful nature, diving down and resurfacing with a zombie head on its nose.

The dolphin would then reappear at the finale of the film when it helps Asher to get back a boat that was taken by Maxim Locke, who was drugged up from accidentally inhaling concentrated magic mushrooms in Dr. Kessler's lab. The dolphin, now fully recovered, lets Asher grab onto its dorsal fin and pull him to the boat, jumping over it to allow Asher to knock Maxim into the water, off the helm. After Asher wins control of the boat, the two bid farewell and the dolphin swims back out into the ocean again.

Appearance[]

The dolphin's appearance was never described in the script and as it was never made, its appearance remains unknown.

Trivia[]

  • The original name of the dolphin is a reference to Boaty McBoatface, a robotic submersible named by the British public which became an internet meme.
  • The name Cassie gives the dolphin could be a reference to Dolph Lundgren, a Swedish actor.
  • Had this script of the movie been made, Dolphiny would be the first water animal seen in the series.
