This page documents all the patch notes regarding patches made for Dead Island 2.

2023[]

Patch 1 - June 13th[]

The Patch note reads:[]

  • Added 'Cosplay' Feature
    • Players can access the new Cosplay feature in the game's main menu. This feature will allow you to change Slayer character skins. All skins will be displayed, even if they are not all immediately available. For more details about the different skin collections and their availability, check out our other blogs:
  • Fixed issue with joining co-op games
    • Fixed the problem where players faced the [0x1411] error, which didn't allow them to join co-op sessions.
  • Fixed walking through walls
    • Fixed an issue where players could walk through walls in the Halperin Hotel under certain circumstances.  
  • Fixed missing NPCs
    • Some players faced issues where some NPCs could have been missing across the whole game - that is now fixed.
  • Fixed the title screen issue
    • Fixed the issue where players couldn't close the title screen via "Quit" when the language was set to Japanese and they were in full-screen mode.
  • Fixed stuck-in geometry issues
    • Players were facing some issues upon dying and respawning in Bel Air, getting stuck and unable to open the door in the Lifeguard Hut when handing in the quest to Burt, and picking up circuit breakers and wrenches in Bel Air. These geometry issues are now fixed.
  • Fixed the "Fools Gold" reward issue
    • Fixed the issue where some players didn't receive the Blood Rage weapon after finishing the Fool's Gold quest.
  • Fixed the "Diaries of the Dead" issue
    • Fixed the issue where the "Diaries of the Dead" mission-specific Mutator and Butcher sometimes failed to leave their correlating containers, resulting in a progression blocker.
  • Client's co-op improvements
    • By Client, we refer to the player who joins the Host in the co-op session - which means each session can contain up to two Clients. This update fixes multiple Client issues, including:
      • - The ability to jump unreasonably high against flat surfaces
      • - Desync when zombies are stunned by Perfect Block or Dodge, which results in teleporting, sliding, and discrepancies in location between Clients
      • - Clients becoming stuck in vents
      • - Enemies A-Posing after dying to a Clients Paired Heavy Attack
      • - Enemies not taking any damage when hit with a jerrycan or with a circuit breaker by a Client
      • - Specific hazard warnings fail to show for Clients.
  • Performance and Stability Improvements
    • This fixes different in-game crashes, including traveling, loading screen, and respawning during missions.
  • Other fixes
    • - Various Improvements for Ultrawide Displays
    • - Various Improvements to HDR
    • - Multiple improvements to player animations
    • - Adjustments made for improving dynamic range and clarity of zombies and dialogue in combat
    • - Other minor fixes.

Other changes included in this patch are:[]

  • Introduced a bug were weapons equipped with the Slaughter perk would increase their durability after every loading screen.
  • Fixed a glitch were sliding into The Metro vent and immediately moving backwards could cause the player to stand up inside the vent.
  • Fixed a glitch were dying on a slope, while you were falling, would cause the player to fall through the floor, thus respawning them underneath the floor.

Patch 2 - August 24th[]

The Patch note reads:[]

  • Fixed the “Max Headroom” issue
    • Fixed issue where players would sometimes not receive the Achievement/Trophy ""Max Headroom"" when reaching level 30
  • Fixed the “Perks of the Job” issue
    • Fixed an issue where the Achievement/Trophy ""Perks of the Job"" would sometimes not increment correctly
  • Fixed the “Hollywood Ending” reward issue
    • Fixed an issue where finishing ‘Hollywood Ending’ with a full inventory awards two copies of Emma's Wrath which are lost after performing a Save/Load
  • Fixed Weapon-focused issues, including:
    • - Level Matched Weapons which were left in a Storage Locker do not revert to their original level after proceeding through any Loading Screen
    • - Weapons durability does not decrease while certain perks are applied
  • Game HUD fixes
    • Ensure minimal HUD preset turns off damage numbers
  • Gen 8 Consoles co-op improvements
    • Introducing fixes which enable players on Gen 8 Consoles to host co-op games.

  • Performance and Stability Improvements
    • This fixes different in-game crashes, including traveling, loading screen, and respawning during missions.

Other changes included in this patch are:[]

  • Changed the critical multiplier of the Pole Saw from 1.0 to 1.9
  • Fixed the speed stat so that it displays correctly when viewing weapon in the inventory or workbench.

Patch 2.1 - September 5th[]

An unnamed patch without patch notes was released on September 5th. The patch involved changes to multiple texture meshes.

Patch 3 - November 2nd[]

The patch note reads:[]

  • Storage Locker size increased from 16 up to 64 items.
  • Improved some slow texture streaming for Gen 8 consoles.
  • Fixed a few blockers caused by NPC’s not appearing on Xbox consoles.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some players from completing the ‘Blueprints Found’ counting stat.
  • Fixed a potential PS4 to PS5 cross save issue.
  • Various co-op gameplay issues fixed, most relating to game behaviour for clients (players who join the session).
  • Various minor skill card and weapon perk/mods bugs fixed.
  • Various minor UI bugs fixed
  • Stability Improvements and various freezes fixed

More details and other changes included in this patch are:[]

  • Add everything included in the Haus DLC.
    • Enter Haus via the invitation at Emma's Mansion and later on via the Haus invitation on the fast travel map.
  • Change the design of the unicorn floaty from white skin with rainbow hairs into the green-ish sweating skin with red green hair and scary eyes.
    • This is the same design as was always present in Rikky's House.
    • This change was made due to Licenses issues.
  • Rebalance the Crossbow by reducing its damage, increasing its critical multiplier and range and change its weapon type from Sharpshooter to Rupture.
  • Increase the critical multiplier cap from 2.5 to 3.0 for Projectile weapons.
  • Reduce the toughness boost from Janus Rage from 130% to 30% (additive).
  • Fixed the critical damage boost from Glass Cannon, now giving 25% or 75% increased critical damage (additive) when above or below 50% Peak Health respectively.
  • Fixed a few points of interest (POI).
    • On Bel-Air the achievable POIs increased by 1 to 30/33.
    • On Venice Beach the achievable POIs increased by 1 to 48/53.
    • On Haus you can get 19/22 POI.

2024[]

Patch 4 - January 23rd[]

The patch note reads:[]

General

  • Support for Epic Game Launcher Cloud Saves Implemented
  • Fixed an issue with enemies occasionally teleporting from one side of cover objects (such as cars) to the other.
  • Fixed a potential blocker on the first load after a player transfers from playing on PS4 to PS5.
  • Fixed various issues related to side quest content accessibility misbehaving for some players dependent on the relationship between the coop content they play, their main game progress and when they pick up side-quests.
  • Fixed an issue with the ‘Gore Horse’ achievement not unlocking correctly for some players.
  • Fixed ‘Kill-O-Watt Kick’ skill not triggering VFX in some coop circumstances.
  • Fixed an issue causing counters to do much less damage for players using bare fists after a death and respawn.
  • Fixed various issue with correctly awarding achievements to coop players.
  • Various minor UI, HUD & damage number fixes.
  • Some minor audio issues fixed.
  • Various minor coop issues fixed.

HAUS DLC

  • Fixes to various locations in which carry-able heads could get stuck in the environment.
  • Fixed an issue where blocking while close to a wall could cause carry-able heads to get stuck inside it.
  • Fixed an issue in which players could get a carry-able head stuck beneath the storage locker when changing their characters cosplay.
  • Fixed an issue with being able to create a blocker in the “Found: Zahra” mission by killing a set of zombies before the correct objective was active.
  • Fixed an issue where Haus progress on multiple slayers could cause a blocker due to not being able to collect the crossbow at the bottom of the well.
  • Fixed various environment collision issues in Haus, some of which allowed players to get out of the world or become stuck.
  • Fixed various cases where zombies could get stuck or were unable to traverse the environment correctly.
  • Various rare visual issues with Haus cut-scenes fixed (camera issues, missing character models, assets in incorrect states.)
  • Improved some messaging around reasons players can’t enter DLC content

Patch 5 - April 17th[]

The patch note read:[]

General

  • Fixed Out of Memory crashes on Gen 8 consoles
  • Implemented a variety of fixes for crashes and to further improve stability
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Legendary’ challenge may not mark as complete upon fulfilling requirements
  • Fixed an issue where the ‘Ooh Shiny’ Achievement may not unlock upon fulfilling requirements
  • The ‘Heavy Hitter’ skill card will now correctly increase the players heavy attack damage
  • The ‘Big Shot’ weapon will now properly activate on hit/kill perks and skill cards
  • Uncommon elemental mods damage has been slightly increased
  • Fixed an issue with ‘Rallying Cry’ showing the wrong buff icon to clients
  • Balanced the damage output of the ‘Ground Pound’ & ‘Quake’ combo
  • Balanced the damage output of the ‘Dash Strike’ & ‘Hammer Fist’ combo

Haus

  • Fixed a hard lock caused by saving and quitting twice during the ‘Dinner Date’ quest

  • Add everything included in the SoLA DLC.
  • Fixed a bug that caused the innitial shockwave from entering Fury Mode to be re-released when swapping the "Fury Skill" card while still inside of fury mode.

Steam Hotfix v1.0 - April 25th[]

The patch note reads:[]

  • This hotfix specifically addresses an issue that some users have had with outdated/updating Epic Online Services.
  • However, it will not directly address other EOS related issue some users are reporting.

Steam Hotfix v1.1 - May 14th[]

The patch note read:[]

  • A Fixed various connectivity issues that may address some players' problems connecting to EOS
  • The game will now no longer force close during boot if it detects EOS is not installed.
  • We’ve fixed an issue that some players were reporting in relation to being offline, where it was taking longer than it should to check entitlements.
  • Various stability improvements.
