The Construction Hammer is a variant of the Sledgehammer featured in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. It can be given out as a Quest reward, sold by Merchants or found on killed Zombies and in Metal chests.
Overview[]
The Construction Hammer is a heavy two handed weapon, meaning it has a slow swing speed but very high force and moderate damage. It also has high durability, but paired with a very high stamina usage. As a result, the Construction Hammer is great at taking out larger groups of basic zombies such as Walkers, or high health but slow moving special infected such as Thugs or Wrestlers. It also has a long weapon reach, meaning you can hit these zombies mostly outside of their own attack range. Due to its slow swing speed, however, it is not well suited against fast zombies such as Infected, Drowners or Butchers, as if you miss your swing, there is a high likelihood you will be hit at least once.

- Cecil in Riptide will give out a construction hammer as a reward for completing his side quest Healthcare.
- Some merchants can sell a construction hammer:
- Keenan Fisher at the River Village can sell it after getting his stock back following completion of the main quest Chasing Shadows.
- Both Michael Stick and Sebastian Black in the Mingende Jungle can sell it.
- Joel Dirt at the Laboratory can sell one.
- In Riptide, Trevor Rogers can sell it after completing a level or two of his Team Quest Best Merchandise for Trevor Rogers.
