The Colt .38 is a type of cut Revolver featured in the game files of Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. It's unknown exactly how they intended you to acquire this pistol, or why it's a named, real world firearm, but in any case the weapon was cut at some point in development, only present in the game files and requiring modding the game to acquire it.

The weapon, like all cut weapons, features pitiful damage on top of the regular stats for that type of the weapon. Aside from the poor damage, the weapon features decent accuracy, a slow rate of fire and slow reload time due to its revolver nature. All these other stats can be ignored, however, in the face of the extremely low damage the weapon comes with. The weapon deals a whole 7 damage a shot, meaning it would take many minutes to kill even an Infected, the weakest zombie in the game, due to this low damage, making it useless to try and obtain and use.

- The firing noise of the pistol is the same as the AI pistol that human enemies use, despite being a revolver.
- It has no noise when reloading.
- In Riptide, the weapon has no name displayed and will not display in a higher rarity than white 'common' rarity, no matter what rarity you give it to yourself in.
