Cliff's Father's Boat, also known by its name Vertigo[1] is a location featured in Escape Dead Island. It is the yacht owned by Cliff Calo's father[1][2], which Cliff and his friends steal[2] to sail to the Banoi Archipelago to do some journalism about the events happening on the island chain[3]. It first appears in Mission 1 - Smooth Sailing when Cliff and his friends are sailing through the archipelago. They stole it from Cliff's father, Tom Calo, to get to the island[2], something they regret but felt necessary, as if they can get their story out, all should be forgiven as it would be massive news[4]. The boat is their transport to the island and, if all had gone well, from the island. However, the boat sinks mysteriously, leaving them trapped on Narapela.[5]
Layout[]
The yacht is a typical medium sized yacht, with a single, large sail and back up engine below the hull. The boat is large with a central covered cabin, two helms at the stern and a wooden walkway from the stern to prow of the ship. The main hull is in black while the cabin is white, with a white sail and unpainted wood flooring. The stern of the boat is open with the two helms and a raised island in the middle, which has got some radio equipment on it. There's also some padded seats either side for people to sit on when it's a nice day while stairs at the very stern allow access to the walkway around.[6]
Inside the cabin it's one large, open space which has some seats, tables and a kitchen. There's various paraphernalia scattered around including suitcases and entertainment. There's a kitchen area with an oven, stove, sink and microwave. There's three doors within the cabin, which lead deeper into the hull to likely a sleeping area and the engine room. There's many windows looking into the cabin from the outside to allow natural light in.[6]

- We never find out the name of the boat from any of the characters.
- However, we can find out partially what it's called during New Game +. Near the beginning of the game, between mission 2 and mission 3, there's a special section of the beach you go to. There you can find the boat wrecked on the shore. Despite being partially covered, we can tell that the name begins with 'vert'.
- This combined with snapshot 26, which is of the boat, tells us the full name which is Vertigo.[1]
- We also never find out why the boat sank, as it was anchored off-shore not near any rocks. However, Devan thinks that the engine blew up.[2]
- You can see some drawings on one of the tables in the cabin, likely drawn by Devan since he wants to be a comic artist.[7]
- The only time we see the boat with its canvas roof on is when you view snapshot 26 in the gallery, the snapshot of the boat. For whatever reason, its model there is with the roof up, the only time it's featured.
- During New Game +, in the cabin, the door on the right near the stairs up can be opened. Inside is the katana and a medkit.
- Taking a picture of Linda with the Camera gives Snapshot 1.
- Taking a picture of Devan with the Camera gives Snapshot 2.
