Bunkers are a common structure scattered throughout the island of Banoi that served as war-time bunkers during World War II. These bunkers are connected by a series of tunnels stretching throughout the island. Although the majority of the bunkers have been cleared of ordinance and serve only as a memory to the island's war-time past, many survivors sought refuge in the bunkers during the outbreak, hoping the steel reinforced doors and solid concrete construction would help them.

The largest concentration of bunkers line the island's eastern coastline where The Royal Palms Resort is located, but some can also be found as far inland as the jungle.

Within the game, the bunkers all share commons modular components, leading a sense of familiarity regardless of which bunker the Hero is in. Generally, each bunker is comprised of an entrance (occasionally covered), a fore room with a ladder leading to a 360 degree turret loft and a fortified back room, usually containing a modification table and access to other bunkers.

Notes[]

  • The bunkers found in the jungle are not numbered like those in the Resort.
  • The jungle bunkers are in far better shape than the Resort bunkers. They're more overgrown but are not falling apart or breaking down like those on the coast. This is probably because the elements are breaking down the coastal bunkers while the ones in the jungle are protected from the salt air and errosion of the sea.
