Bunker #03 is an inaccessible coastal World War II bunker located just below the Lighthouse at the Resort and featured in Dead Island. The Hero first drives past the bunker while visiting the Lighthouse but while it can be visited at any time, the door will never be unlocked, leaving just the outside accessible.

Layout[]

Like all the other Resort bunkers, the building is constructed out of reinforced concrete, which is concrete with metal rebar interlaced into it. The main entrance is slightly sunk inwards to give a little protection to anyone entering or leaving the bunker. On the outside of the bunker are several reinforcing concrete slopes to give further support and structure to the bunker and some metal framing can be seen jutting out towards the top of the bunker. There's a main turret which has several large firing slits inside it to allow the defenders to fire outwards. Access to the roof of the bunker is provided by ladders which allow for movement all the way to the turret roof, though there's nothing up here. Several boxes are found on the roof of the bunker which also has some railings on it. There's the bunker number of 03 painted on the outside in white paint and the whole bunker is overgrown and parts of the concrete have been broken away due to time and neglect.

Notes[]

  • A Metal chest can be found on top of the bunker, next to a load of boxes.
  • Strangely. the bunker appears to cover the road when looking on the map, theoretically making it impossible to drive up to the Lighthouse. However, this is just a poor redition on the map's part as it doesn't take the sloping upwards of the road into consideration. The bunker is actually underneath the terrain of the sloping road and the map just doesn't recognise this, so places the bunker on the same elevation as the road, even though the bunker is under the terrain.
  • This bunker is actually two bunkers placed inside each other at slightly different heighs to make it a different shape. This can easily be seen if looking through one of the firing slits of the turret, where all sorts of collision meshing can be seen between the two bunker models, showing that they're two separate models placed inside each other.
