Bunker #01 is a location and safehouse featured in Dead Island and the first in a series of coastal World War II bunkers located on the island of Banoi. The Hero can visit the bunker at any time, but will be unable to enter the bunker until completing the main quest Devastator, where the hero has to blow open the door. Upon arrival during the quest, the player will encounter several Infected, a couple of Walkers, and a Thug.
Layout[]
Like most of the other Resort bunkers, this one follows a similar layout, with a main rectangular concrete box which has a raised turret towards one end. The bunker is placed strategically at the edge of a cliff overlooking the nearby water edge, giving it a commanding view of its surroundings. However, a metal floor has been erected around it, giving a better, safer access to the bunker, with steps leading up to solid land. The bunker itself is partially run down with broken off concrete showing the metal reinforcements and some plant matter is growing in cracks in the concrete. Near to the door is the white numbering of 01, indicating the bunker number.
Access to the bunker is via the metal door, which is originally locked. However, getting past that you enter the main room which has a doorway in the far corner and a metal ladder to the raised turret parapet of the bunker. There's several gun slits looking out of the turret, for firing at enemies, while some metal walkways allow full access around the turret. There's a fast travel map against the wall, right next to the door, while heading through the far doorway gives access to the back of the bunker. This has the portal to the Jungle in its far corner, while the remains of a bed are against a wall along with a workbench.
Notes[]
- If you visit the bunker while not completing the main quest Devastator, you will only encounter a single Walker and Thug outside the bunker itself and no Infected will spawn on the way.
- There's a metal chest located in the parapet of the bunker inside it.
- There's also one located on the very top of it.
Trivia[]
- Although bunker 01 is the first numbered bunker on the island, it is the last numbered bunker the Hero visits during the story.
