I am glad to be added as one of the wiki's hard working editors Thank You.
Now that I've completed a playthrough of Escape Dead Island and have started a New Game + playthrough, I feel like I can now give my thoughts on the game. I've been up and down all over the island, being a tourist pretty much, which is a cool way of playing through Dead Island games, wandering around, discovering, visiting famous locations and taking pictures like it's some exotic holiday!
The game is certainly unique when it comes to the Dead Island series. The main gameplay is far more stealth orientated, which is an interesting and somewhat fresh concept when put next to all the other games in the series. Up until Escape (and after it), the games have been about hack and slash, using a variety of cool and wacky melee weapons to hack up zombies …
I'm bringing you some momentous news today! Today marks the day when every single Dead Island quest has got a proper layout and walkthrough! Yes, that's right, that means I finally decided to go through the remained couple of long Moresby side quests and give them a proper layout, bullet point detailed walkthrough and detailed notes!
It's been a mammoth task to do all these quests, since some of them are very long (looking at you, Pure Blood and Devil's Labyrinth!) but it was badly needed since a lot of the quest pages didn't even have a basic walkthrough, something that should really be a standard on any new quest page. However, over the course of the 7 months since I've been on the wiki, I've finally gone through every Dead Island quest (…
While going through the Dead Island: Epidemic weapons to make the crafting tier pages, I've been thinking a lot about how cool some of these weapons are and it's sad how they were restricted to Dead Island: Epidemic. Like, nearly all of the high tier weapons are all very cool and unique looking, with fantastic mods that would be perfect in a main Dead Island first person game. Imagine being able to use some of those melee weapons in first person, so hack up the zombies! nearly all the firearms are also very cool, from the guns made from scrap metal to acid rifles and pistols, those guns would be a lot more fun to use than the selection we have in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide!
I hope that, in whatever Dead Island game we get next, so…
So, I've been cleaning up the wiki, added pages and rewriting article stubs, etc. Single handedly cleared off 200 article stubs and counting! Anyway, I'm writing this for anyone else planning on editing or expanding articles to make sure the wiki has a standard form for pages. As we all know, everyone has their own style of doing things and that's fine, but I want there to be a basic standard in terms of page layout, to make the wiki feel more professional and easier to navigate/read.
Below will be a basic guide on how to lay out each page depending on what type of articles they are.
Some basic rules to follow before we get into the sections is this:
- Only link a page once per page. For example, if Infected have been mentioned multiple…
I feel like Dead Island Wiki logo needs a palm tree, look at all 5 DI games they all have the same palmtree even Dead Island 2.
Who has other opinions?
The current logo:
The emoticons from Steam Trading Cards and Dead Island: Epidemic Vanity icons usable in this wiki. Who knows maybe in the future we can find an use for them.
So on the sad note the servers are closing down on October 15th for Dead Island: Epidemic. More info: http://steamcommunity.com/games/222900/announcements/detail/96055326934074542
I would like to know your opinion what we should do with DI:E content on this wiki?
As some of you may know, my main contributions were/are more technical than anything. I created many of the original templates on the wiki and, after becoming an admin, I created a lot of the JS.
Moving forward with the wiki's development, I've written a few new scripts and have even more planned to make us really stand out.
In my last blog post, we came to a consensus that tabs would be an effective way to differentiate between various DI games. However, after looking into the TabView extension I found several major issues with its implementation (To read my full explanation, go to Help:Tab_view).
Long story short, it breaks the wiki when viewed on a mobile device, and it is difficult for users unfamiliar with how wikis work to edit the link…
In last few days I have been busy categorizing files that were laying uncategorized for quite long time. I´ve created some new categories and I really did not take time realising from which game these pictures come from, if its Riptide or original game. I hope that does not matter much. Those two games are practically identical in graphics with some minor changes.
I have put them all in same category. But there is a bunch of photos without any article linking to it. And I dont know what to do with them. They seem to be screenshot of bugs/ easter eggs. But page for easter eggs and bugs was removed from this wiki for a reason I cant tell myself. So I´d like to ask you all if I should mark them for deletion all or just put them into category. …
This wiki has grown immensely over the last few years and with Dead Island 2 around the corner, I don't see it slowing down anytime soon. So in preparation for the new game, I believe we should request a custom namespaces for Dead Island 2. The main wiki is already starting to blur the lines between the DI1 and DI: Riptide, and I don't want this wiki to end up like the elder scrolls wiki.
If you don't know what i'm talking about, go to that wiki and just look around at utter chaos and disorganization that is rampant throughout the entire wiki. Trying to look at information relating to any one game and you will be give pages with no clear indication as to what game it is talking about. Some pages might have "(Skyrim)" or something similar in…
I have noticed some badges does not look that great, and some of them are even hard to spot what is displayed on them.
Since the original Dead Island release there are released a lot of new artworks for all 5 games. So why not to play around a bit and update some badges?
You might have noticed a lot of homepage changes recently. Mostly as an effort to make the page easier to read, and allow quicker access to the major sections of the wiki (Many thanks to Jur1z). One of the other additions, was to add the game logos to the page, and in an effort to keep the page less cluttered, black and white versions of each logo were used. The black and white versions are easier on the eyes, were normalized to match, and reduces the overall amount of red in the users face on the homepage.
Unfortunately, this benefit is completely lost on mobile, as the mobile site does not pull in any custom styles and actually removes inline styles. There are some complicated workarounds, but in the interest of keeping the page easy to e…
As you probably already noticed i have added icons for "Useful Places" for Main page instead big pictures like it was before.
To make it unique and interesting i made them so icons are automatically changing every time you visit / reload the page.
Also added more places: Items, Gameplay, Vehicles, Achievements, Collectibles and Challenges.
Whats your opinions? Is it better or worse? And do you think there should be more icons for more places / categories?

In an effort to streamline the wiki, we have been hard at work cleaning, documenting, and creating new templates to aid in the continuing expansion of the wiki.
First priority was cleaning up the functional templates to make them easier to use, less cluttered, and less obtrusive to the actual content on the page. Additionally, we used a color coding scale, to establish the importance of the functional template being used.
As a reminder, please note the
Good luck, and happy editing!
Edit: Added disambiguation template
Want to properly style some text to show an items rarity? We've set up some simple classes you can use instead of relying on basic colors such as orange or purple. These colors are taken directly from the game, but have been added as classes so they are easier to use without having to know the hex values.
To style the content, simply wrap the information in a span, and add the appropriate class. Please note this will not affect linked items, as they will always pull the link style.
For ease of use, the styles reflect their rarity
common = white
uncommon = green
rare = blue
unique or superior = purple
legendary, exceptional or ultimate = orange

First off, I would like to thank you for the support I received for my request for adminship on this wiki. I look forward to helping to make this wiki a better resource for all fans of the series.
One of the first things I wanted to do, as I had discussed with some others prior, was to enable message walls. This makes speaking to and with others a lot easier. Instead of having to force a threaded list via the definition lists (the :, ::, :::), discussions will be automatically threaded like a forum (or blog) post. If you want to reference your former talk page, don't worry, the content has been archived for each user. Navigate to your message wall, and click on See archived talk page to view the content.
I hope this will help everyone communic…

seriously fell in love with this game series, Playing the first one as we speak, read the riptide storyline that follows up on this one and I really would like to play it, so many unanswered questions---And the White campaign is both Terrifying and intense!!! Used this wiki a lot to find out NPC back stories, very cool!
What do you think of the new Dead Island, Dead Island 2? How do you think it will compare to the previous Dead Islands? Read the article on this wiki and search it on Google. Please add whatever you think and whatever opinions you have!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bit of a ranty post, so please, bear with me here.
Dead Island Epidemic's a fairly new release, adding onto the already brilliant Dead Island series, adding a whole new island, plot (sort of) and characters. Except the characters are truely something to behold, and not in a good way. These characters aren't exactly what I was hoping for, especially when they're apparently powerful infectees who have been mutated by this infection but haven't become mindless abominations. This kind of ruins it for me.
You see, when someone gets infected by Kuru I expect one of two things to happen, as already established in lore. Either a. That person dies and reanimates or b. That person has an immunity and doesn't turn into one of the undead. Instead, the ga…
Hi, I'm looking for some nice people to play Dead Island Riptide with on cooperative. I play on PS3 and my gamertag is Crazy_Bro_Dude. It doesn't matter to me whether or not you have a mic (granted it would be nice if you did but I'm fine with it if you don't) as long as you're friendly. I'm level 36, on chapter 5 (The Mission). If you add me say in the message that you saw my blog here so I know. Please play with me, the game's not as fun when you're alone.
So I was thinking, maybe we can redo the characters page ( http://deadisland.wikia.com/wiki/Survivors ) in a similar style as http://walkingdead.wikia.com/wiki/Video_Game_Characters
the images of each character would help the page vastly and the "Status" template won't give as much spoilers as the page already has. :D. I'll even put it all together if it's to much work for anyone else.
Hello dere. :P My life is going well so far, me and the designers are working on a Dead Island:Riptide sequel! :D Right now I'm busy taking care of my wife,my two sons, and my German Shepherd, Dodge. :3 Well, see ya for naio!
Anyone want to Chat on the Dead island Chatbox? any admins or anything, the chatbox is usually empty...
With the announcement of a new Dead Island game, Dead Island: Epidemic and the cliff hangar left by Dead Island: Riptide, the franchise seems to have a bright future and should still be going on for many years to come. However, I've been wondering, how much do you think Dead Island will have evolved in say, a decade. Will it be a classic Zombie game with a huge fan base or will it be a forgotten, dead (heh, heh, I made a funny) series?? Please, comment your thoughts.
So, We are lacking MANY pages to Dead Island Riptide. Is a new wiki for Dead Island Riptide going to be created, or do we need to buckle down on work for Dead Island Riptide? I also noticed editing DI:R survivors pages do not contribute to the "Edit Survivors" achievement on the wiki.
So...We all know Roger Howard gets infected and turns, and is killed, but where is his body? Many people speculate that the body where Roger's final recording is located is not his, saying the body is wearing a convict outfit, While others say the body is indeed his because of it's relevant location to a pair of doors. So? What do you think? I think the body is indeed Roger Howards.
Which of the special zombies in Dead Island (not Riptide) do you think is the most fun to fight?
I myself have a particularly fun time fighting Rams, mostly because they're my favorite type of zombie. Why? Not a clue...
Hello, Dead Island Wiki contributors. As some of you know, Techland is creating a new game known as Dying Light. It will be similar to Dead Island, having craftable weapons, and there will also be free-running, similar to Mirror's Edge for any of those who played it. Anyways, I created a wiki on the game, and I wanted to know for any contributors here who would like to come and join, that'll be great. Due to the games being created by the same people, I was sorta expecting for somebody here to come check it out. If you do so, thanks!
Hello almost certainly nobody, I'm LeMatt, and no I'm not french, I will be buying the game of the year edtion on thursday of the first dead island. I will beposting every so often about my personal exploits in the game as well as any strange events that may, or may not happen to me. My next post will be on thursday, and if anyone wants to post a comment that woud be just dandy. Anyway I'm sure I will love this game, and its' sequel.
So, the other day i was just wandering through Moresby, and i found a sign that reads "Dead Zone" like in the second game, i just sort of wanted to inform this, i don't know the exact location, but if i see it again i will take a screenshot. Btw, i have the 1.3.0 version.
With me just being a new contributor to the wiki, I would like to ask some people how to get around the wiki, or learn the ropes.
Hey Dead Island fans!
We recently sat down for a chat with game designer/writer Chris
Avellone, and talked about the specifics of making a game set in a
post-apocalyptic world. Well known for his work on Fallout 2,
Fallout: New Vegas, Knights of the Old Republic II , and Baldur's
Gate among many others, he's an authority on what it takes to make
a wasteland both scary and appealing. We cover a wide range of
games during the discussion, including the Dead Island series, so
make sure to check out our Expert Showcase discussion with him
Finished the game today and it was fun.
I have some theories about the ending, considering the fact I heard (zombified) growling and the door knob on the boat turns quickly which leaves a huge cliffhanger. It also hints: Will there be another Dead Island?
1: The survivors were turned into hideous beasts when the 5 immune used the mutagen. After that, hell on another islands starts again.
2: The growling was probably from some zombies from another identical boat.
3: The growling was just to mess with people's minds and the survivors are fine.
4: How were survivors able to survive without food or water in six days (unless there is enough food in there to last a whole week)?
Any theories can go down in the comment section.…
Dead Island: Riptide is a brand new adventure, following the same survivors from the first Dead Island. Right when they thought they reached safety, the clutches of the zombie apocalypse came rushing back. With new weapons, quests, and a playable character, the game is sure to continue the slaying fun, whether you're by yourself or playing with your friends!
The game is out and the verdict is in! What are your thoughts about the new game? Let us know in the comments!
I was wondering, now we all know what characters will be playable in Dead Island Riptide, have you already decided who you will be playing as on your first playthrough. I think I will begin with the character that I had begun with in Riptide's predecessor, Logan. Now, I like games that can make the main protagonist look like you (with the exception of those Sim games, you want realistic games like that then go play real-life, although it doesn't take one conversation to get a girlfriend in real-life although I wouldn't actually know because I've never had one) and with Dead Island, you have the option to choose a character so I chose the one the one that looked most like me and I'm not racist but I wasn't black or asian or from Oceania for…
Dead Island: Riptide is an upcoming open world action role-playing game developed by Techland and published by Deep Silver. The game is set for release in April 2013 for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Microsoft windows. The game could technically be considered a spin-off, but contains all new content, environments, and zombies. The game picks up right where the previous one left off, with the four survivors finding themselves trapped upon the island of Palanai in the Banoi archipelago.
There's plenty of new features to look forward to in this game. Are there any features or content that you'd love to see i the next installment? Let us know what you'd like to see out of this zombie slayin' gem. Here are a few features that I'd love to see impl…
I'm a modder for many games myself, and I'm really willing to spend alot of time and work to mod Dead Island textures for a more detailed/realistic gameplay, if anyone have solutions or tutorials, feel free to help!
Though not very new, the CGI trailer for the upcoming game Dead Island: Riptide was released on Sept. 18, 2012. Similar to the CGI trailer for Dead Island, a couple is showcased on a vacation before being confronted by numerous undead. Although this time it's set on a boat. You can view the trailer below:
Dead Island Riptide - CGI Trailer
What are your thoughts on the new trailer? Does it look better than the previous game? Do you think it's still the same thing? Leave a comment below. Thanks, everyone!
if it is your first time playing dead island it is best to play with a nother player especially when you make itto the city and the jungle. try to do all the missions that come up because you can earn mods, money, exp and weapons.when you run into a hoard of the infected make sur you always have good weapons and full health because the are super fast and super strong
It was just announced. Dead Island: Riptide. Looks to be better than the first game so far, but I just read up on it in my GameInformer magazine that I just now got. We'll see when new details come out I guess.
Dead Island has already had a few DLC now what do you think the next one should be? What would you want to see?
