Block is an Ability Skill Card available in Dead Island 2 for the Defense Skill slot. It is unlocked during the main quest Desperately Seeking Emma.
Dodge allows the player to defend themselves against attacks and reduce the amount of damage taken. A well timed blocked will restore the player's stamina and stun zombies. This then allows them to be countered with a finishing attack which will normally kill most regular zombies instantly.
