Bars are a location featured in Dead Island. There are many bars scattered across the pools in the Hotel Bungalows at the back of the Royal Palms Resort. Prior to the outbreak, hotel guests could drink, socialise and party at the bars. At one such bar, there was a party going on when zombies tore through and killed the partygoers.[1] The Heroes pass through the area looking for a deadbeat for Omar Torres, as said deadbeat owes him money and the keys to his safe are on his (now undead) persons.[2] At a different bar, Stanley Garrison sought refuge from the zombies and killed the undead bartender.[3]
Layout[]
All of the bars are constructed in the same way, and most are situated near multiple pools to quickly serve any customers looking for a drink whilst soaking in the pool. The walls of the bars are made of wood and covered in a layer of bamboo for decoration, with a thatched roof covering them. There are countertops all the way around the outside of them, still covered by the roof, which are also made of wood with a bamboo layer for decoration, along with wooden countertops. These have various alcoholic drink dispensers for staff to pour and serve drinks to patrons. The floor of the areas tend to differ, but are either paved with smooth cobblestone or a similar solid but smooth floor, much like the rest of the Hotel Pools area.[4]
Inside the bars, tend to vary slightly, but most have a tiled wall to one side which has metal countertops and cabinets above them to allow the bars to keep and dispense food and drink, whilst the other side has more countertops and a fridge. Other decoration differs, with some bars mounting a surfboard over one of the doorways, whilst other bars have it either left bare or with a Paddle over it. Some bars have doors to prevent anyone other than staff entering the building, whilst others are freely open.[4]
Notes[]
- Bars contain a variety of things to collect, but most with have a mix of Canned Food, Alcohol, Water and Energy Drinks both on the outside countertops as well as inside.
- Various bars have Metal chests in them, notably the bar that Stanley Garrison is hiding in.
- The bar near the Lifeguard Tower, that you visit for Omar's side quest Hit and Run, features various bodies are found on the ground, however they do not come alive when getting near it, meaning the area is completely safe to traverse without being jumped.[2]
