“Explosives wrapped in rotting flesh that will lure in zombies before exploding.”
— Description
The Bait Bomb is a Curveball featured in Dead Island 2. It functions identically to the Exploding Meat seen in Dead Island and Riptide. It can be bought from Dougie in Ocean Avenue for $3500 after completing the main quest The Search for Truth.
Overview[]
The Bait Bomb can be treated as a direct upgrade to the Meat Bait, as it will also attract any nearby Walker, Runner, and Shambler as well as their many variants and distract them for several seconds. However, it has the added benefit of exploding for heady damage against targets near to the center, and deal reduced damage to zombies caught on the explosion edges. Like the Meat Bait before it, it is a glass bottle full of fresh and rotten meat, however this time it has a jerry-rigged bomb attached to the cap which sets off a timer once the bottle is smashed. For roughly ten seconds, the zombies are distracted, but right before then the bomb will explode, dealing damage to anything nearby. If you are not confident on it killing the zombies it distracts, you can always throw another damaging curveball such as the Military Grenade or Electric Star to deal damage before the Bait Bomb explodes to finish them off.
The main drawbacks of the Bait Bomb is the same as the Meat Bait, as it only distracts Runners briefly compared to Walkers and Shamblers and has no effect on Apex variants. However, this does mean it is useful to give you a brief window of time to focus on the Apex zombie without the riff-raff hounding you. Essentially an upgrade to the Meat Bait, the Bait Bomb is useful at not only distracting zombies but also dispatching large numbers of them quickly.
