The Abandoned Bungalow is a Dead Zone located in the Flooded jungle and featured in Dead Island: Riptide. It's one of the many dead zones scattered around the game, located not far from the Santa Maria Mission and Pierre's Magasin.
Overview[]
The main part the dead zone is dominated by the two story wooden building, which has external stairs to reach it. The building is enclosed by tall walls, making an enclosed compound with two large swing doors to enter it. The wooden stairs at the front of the building lead up to a wooden walkway all around the upper room, with two doors, one either side. However, one of these are barricaded from inside. There's a hole in the upper floor which is blocked off from the door by a divider, though heading around it reveals the hole. Inside the lower story is a couple of wooden cabinets and boxes, whilst the upper floor has various furniture items and wooden boxes.
Strategy[]
Like most dead zones, there's little strategy that can be employed, though certain things can make it easier to traverse. Upon entering the dead zone, a Butcher can spawn on the upper walkway and detect you, screaming and running down to attack you. There are also some Walkers near the entrance, so clearing them quickly can allow the Butcher to be focussed on. If you are lucky enough to not have the Butcher spawn, the Walkers are easily dealt with. A couple of Walkers can be playing dead on the floor and upper walkway but are easily finished. Once the outside is clear, the upper floor is void of enemies, making it easy to loot the bodies and few containers in the upper floor. The remaining enemies are concentrated in the bottom floor, and there are a couple of ways to deal with them. The first is to throw a Sonic Pulse Grenade down the hole located in the floor of the upper room. This will kill any Walkers or Infected down there, allowing you to drop down and easily kill the Thug in a 1v1. This strategy can also be done from the ground by simply opening the double doors, throwing the sonic pulse grenade and then closing the door again. If these grenades are not available, a Molotov Cocktail will work just as well, albeit slower. If Mines have been acquired, placing some near the front door and letting them come to you can deal with most of them. However it is done, once the lower floor enemies have been killed, you can simply loot the area before leaving.

Notes[]
- Despite being called a bungalow, it's not actually a bungalow since it's a two story building.
- You can find two metal chests in the bottom floor of the building.
- Another one can be found in the upper floor.
- Sometimes, when looking through the front of the dead zone without entering it, a Floater can be seen within the compound. However, it's unable to be hit and also doesn't detect the player. No Floater spawns within the dead zone either, so this is likely the case of an incorrect world spawn for the floater.
